IFL Debate Club Membership Application 2022 – 2023

The IFL Debate Club Membership Application is now open. The club is looking for new members for the academic year 2022 – 2023. The IFL Debate Club offers its members debate practices that allow them to improve their skills in public speaking and debate, alongside other sub-skills relevant to debate.

 

Our debaters conduct debates on multiple thought-provoking and controversial topics including but not limited to economy, politics, environment, social values and principles of life. The club has expended the perimeter of focus to standard adjudication and professional debate training.

New Programs & Projects

We are also excited to introduce our new training programs and up-coming projects for this academic year. These projects include our annual debate competitions, such as Debate Forum, and Debate Challenge. Hence, members will be able to learn necessary technical debate skills and other relevant soft-skills of the 21st century.

​Eligibility

Candidates should be highly motivated students of the Royal University of Phnom Penh who would like to develop their debate skills and critical thinking skills and are willing to promote debate cultures in Cambodia.

 

Qualified candidates must:

• Be a student of Royal University of Phnom Penh

• Demonstrate a high commitment in developing their debate skills and critical thinking skills

• Participate in a 50-hours Training (Mon/Wed/Fri 11:30 am-12:30 pm) starting from 10th of December 2022 

• Actively attend the training sessions provided by the club and timely complete tasks or assignment given

​Application Overview

Step 1 – Complete and submit the online application form before 13th November 2022 (at 5:00 P.M.)

Step 2 – Take the Proficiency Test on 26th November 2022 from 8:30 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. The test comprises of 3 sections (Listening, Reading, and Logics & Thinking skills).

 

NB: Candidates must bring their students' ID cards or any other documents to verify their identity as students of the Royal University of Phnom Penh on the test day.

Step 3 – Each shortlisted applicant will be invited to an interview and take the speaking test on 03th December 2022.

Step 4 – The result of successful candidates will be announced on the 05th of December 2022 on our Facebook page and email.

​NB: It should be noticed that once the candidates have passed the membership position, they are required to pay the membership fee of $50 with no later than a week after the induction day (17th December 2022).
